The Pasadena Roof Orchestra was one ingredient last weekend, and entertained the festival crowd on two nights on two different stages. Despite some spectacular storms on the Saturday, the orchestra's performance went down very well. The concert took place at the atmospheric decorated Cadogan Hall. Not only fans of the band joined the celebration concert but also former members showed up and made the evening a "Pasadena Roof Orchestra Family Event". Scheduled were concerts in Madrid and Barcelona. In particular the packed El Palau de la Musica Catalana, one of the finest concert halls in Europe, wowed the Orchestra's members again. Nov 9th 1989 was the historic day when the Berlin wall came down and the border between East and West Germany was opened. Last week the Pasadena Roof Orchestra toured some East German cities just as it did in the late 1970s and 80s when they were one of the very few Western artists who were allowed to perform in the DDR. Friday July 3rd was the first festival day and the theme was 'Jazz'.
